| Learning Through Service
Our school philosophy is a value-centered one that challenges us to provide an education that integrates Catholic values in all that we teach. Central to the Christian life is the concept of service. We believe that recognizing the need for, and learning to serve others is an essential component of our four-year program.
Our mission calls us to develop a sense of global stewardship and to discover a world outside ourselves.

The Lowell Catholic High School Service Learning Program brings community service into the classroom. This union gives students the opportunity to reflect on the service they have done and think about the impact their work has had on both themselves and the rest of the world. In addition, by incorporating service to enrich the curriculum, students are helped to excel academically. The program also prepares students for productive lives by getting them involved with the greater community. Finally, students are encouraged to embrace Jesus’ message through the service of others.
Beginning with the class of 2009, students will be required to complete the Lowell Catholic High School Service Learning Program in order to graduate. Over the course of four years, students will complete a minimum of seventy hours of community service and four pieces of reflection. These service hours will be divided into two groups. Community service done at or in the name of Lowell Catholic High School will be designated “in house service.” Service that serves the greater community will be designated as “out-reach service.” Students are required to complete a minimum of thirty hours of out-reach service before graduation. Students in the National Honor Society will not be allowed to use the Service Learning Program to fulfill NHS requirements. However, students who complete more than one hundred hours of community service will receive a Commendation in Service Learning.
