Athletic Policies and Philosophy

ATHLETIC PHILOSOPHY

Lowell Catholic's athletic program is an extension of its academic program.  The school's coaches are teachers; the city's gymnasiums, stadiums, and athletic fields are their classrooms.  Through participation in varsity, junior varsity, and club sports, students learn important lessons in the areas of leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline. As an institution that strives to fully develop each student’s potential, Lowell Catholic realizes the importance of fair play and honest and respectful competition. The school believes that a sound interscholastic athletic program provides the participant with physical, mental, moral, emotional and social benefits.

ATHLETIC POLICIES

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) is a governing body for all athletic teams sponsored by member schools. Lowell Catholic High School is a member of, and in good standing with, the MIAA.  With this membership, the principal, in conjunction with the athletic director, is committed to ensuring that all coaches and teams abide by all rules, regulations, and decisions of the MIAA.
